A History of Care and Service
As a not-for-profit social enterprise, at SE Health we believe and invest in making care better, helping people and communities grow stronger. SE Health began in 1908 as the Saint Elizabeth Visiting Nursing Association, founded by four pioneering nurses to care for new moms and babies, the poor and others. We have worked for more than a century to bring hope and happiness, and forever impact how people live and age.
Today, more than 8,000 SE team members nationwide provide health care services including home and community care, long-term care, acute care and primary care. When we asked home care clients if they would recommend SE Health to family and friends, a gratifying 97% said "yes." We work with governments, regional health authorities, hospitals, the seniors' living sector, community organizations and consumers.
The SE family also includes a dedicated research centre, health career college, futures lab and global enterprise. The research centre focuses on developing evidence-based solutions to tough health and social care problems. Together with the Saint Elizabeth Foundation and diverse partners, we have facilitated transformative solutions in the areas of aging, education, Indigenous health and end of life care.
SE Health is honoured to be a three-time recipient of the Canada Order of Excellence, one of Forbes' Best Employers for 2020, and one of Canada's Most Admired Corporate Cultures in 2021.
